This self-portrait reflects the tension between past and present, childhood and adulthood, tradition and self-definition. The medals around my neck recall markers of achievement, while the cross in the mouth embodies both constraint and guidance. A childhood photograph, obsucring the eyes, hovers between memory and identity, blurring innocence with the institutional weight of growing up. The gray wall heightens the clinical, almost mugshot-like atmosphere, situating the portrait as a study of transition--leaving behind one world while entering another.
